New Gloria?

My parish has recently put an insert in the back of our missals called the “New Gloria.” I’ve only glanced at it but it looks just about the same as the “Old” Gloria. Actually all that appears to have changed is the melody that accompanies it. Am I missing something here? Has anyone else run into the same thing?

I suspect it was put there and called the “new gloria” by your director of parish music or your friendly local liturgy committee :getholy: sigh For a moment there I thought that part of the new translation had been approved for immediate use. But if it’s just the music that’s changed, it’s quite ridiculous to call it the “new gloria.” What’s wrong with the “old” Gloria? Ya know, the translation hangups could just be avoided altogether if we actually kept the Latin ordinaries like we were supposed to. It’s really not that hard to remember the Kyrie, Gloria, Credo, Sanctus, and Agnus Dei… sheesh.
