Yes, as the video says, we need to love God more than we love anything else, including our pets. However, God is a God of infinite creativity, and I doubt he would create a heaven which is sterile, without animals – we do know plants are in heaven.
One reason I want my dog to be in heaven is because he trusted me to do the best for him, and I had him put to sleep because he was in such pain. But non-existence is not a good thing, and I also trust in God to do the best for us, for my dog as well as me.
You might say this is a coincidence, but at the exact moment the vet injected the fatal shot to euthanize my pet, my phone alarm rang. I checked the message; it was 3:00 on Friday, and the message said: “Divine mercy.” It was a reminder that I had set and forgotten about until that moment. So if that’s not God telling me that all would be well, I would be shocked. And that’s not to trivialize divine mercy, because that was a very painful moment for me.
