Mark - I don’t need to see the links to know if your hand is involved, it will be a spiritual beauty.

Mark’s icons adorn our little chapel, and never cease to bring comments about their beauty. Your St. Nikolai was a big hit last week (and will be again next week)…

yeah i’m just not seeing anything. THE SUSPENSE IS KILLING ME!!! 😃

What’s the best way for am untrained artist to begin learning to write Icons?
You can learn to paint icons at special icon retreats and workshops given by various teachers around the country.

How far are you from Scottsdale?

There is a Master icon painter giving an icon painting retreat there now. You could drop in and see what they’re doing…

Hope this helps…

Who is this master iconographer? Could it be Fr. Mark Malone?

I’m sorry, it isn’t.

His name is Peter Pearson and he is the author of the book A BRUSH WITH GOD.

He has also painted hundreds of icons for churches, Roman Catholic, Byzantine Catholic, Anglican and Orthodox. He has been teaching icon painting retreats and workshops for over 12 years.

His work hangs all over the world including the Offices of the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholemew I in Constantinople.

Here is his website:

Here it is!

I downloaded the image, then I attached it through the Manage Attachments button. To link to it online, you’d have to host it at a free photo hosting website like PhotoBucket.

May God Bless You Abundantly,
Catherine

Beautiful! A true masterpiece. 🙂

Very traditional and beautiful.

Too bad we can’t see all the little details.

It is beautiful. Correct me if I’m wrong, but is it the Harrowing of Hell (or the Eastern equivalent)? I always love those icons.

Off topic: the “Gospel” of Nicodemus has a beautiful yet hilarious account of the Harrowing.

The Gospel of Nicodemus is the next best thing to inspired writings in my opinion. It does contain the salvation truth of Jesus’ redemptive crucifixion and ressurection-- and most notably a wonderful account of the Harrowing of Hell. I love it! Along with the Protevangelium of Saint James and Infancy Gospel of Saint Mary.

How is the Harrowing of Nicodemus’ Gospel hilarious though?
