Leaders of one of the world’s most effective jihadist organizations, the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group (LIFG), have written a new “code” for jihad. The LIFG says it now views the armed struggle it waged against Col. Moammar Gadhafi’s regime for two decades as illegal under Islamic law.

The new code, a 417-page religious document entitled “Corrective Studies” is the result of more than two years of intense and secret talks between the leaders of the LIFG and Libyan security officials.

The code’s most direct challenge to al Qaeda is this: “Jihad has ethics and morals because it is for God. That means it is forbidden to kill women, children, elderly people, priests, messengers, traders and the like. Betrayal is prohibited and it is vital to keep promises and treat prisoners of war in a good way. Standing by those ethics is what distinguishes Muslims’ jihad from the wars of other nations.”

The code has been circulated among some of the most respected religious scholars in the Middle East and has been given widespread backing. It is being debated by politicians in the U.S. and studied by western intelligence agencies.

While the code states that jihad is permissible if Muslim lands are invaded – citing the cases of Afghanistan, Iraq and Palestine – the guidelines it sets down for when and how jihad should be fought, and its insistence that civilians should not be targeted are a clear rebuke to the goals and tactics of bin Laden’s terrorist network.

I doubt the terrorist organization will take it seriously. They’ll likely think its just a US trick, or they’ll use that religious code (I forgot the actual name tariq I think) where they think its acceptable to lie in order to hide their true motives from infidels. Just my 2 cents i hope I’m wrong though.

Unfortunately, this is true. They are brainwashed and need our prayers.
 
Furthermore, no group of Muslims is under any obligation to listen to anither group of Muslims… much like Protestants…
 
That’s true. I don’t think that’s going to stop the bombings in Pakistan, Indonesia etc.

This is exactly what I had been saying for a long time. There is not to be any Jihad with weapons. If at all, it is only to be peaceful preaching. But the foremost Jihad is the purification of the self from lower ( mean, base) desires.

I knew this all along but I had no means to convey it to any Jihadist group. The type of Jihad that has been promoted in India by Mullas during the 20th century was sin and Haraam. Of course same (Jihad with weapons) was being taught at Cairo and other places like Damascus, Syria.

I have been sayng that the Muslim Clergy misled the poor Muslims into fighting spirit, with weapons and they spread a wave of Hatred against every non-Muslim. Books were written on the subject of Jihad with weapons. Some Muslim religious leaders (bigots) even wrote that Islam was spread by sword. That provided the much needed licence for the ignorant Muslims to take up the sword. If any one spoke against Jihad, he/she was considered a heretic (Kaafir).

Thanks to Allah that after killing so many poor people, the culprits have now finally come to understand the truth and peaceful nature of all religions. Those who took up arms for the sake of their Islamic desires were definitely wrong in all cases.

I do not agree to the last para of the above Fatwa that it is allowed to carry out Jihad when some Muslim land is occupied. Even in those cases, there could be a political war. But that would not be Jihad. There is not to be any Jihad ( religious war) now. It is Haraam to fight any one for the difference of religion.

If the Libyans had come to me, I would have told them the same thing long ago.

In order to defeat the Jihadists, it is necessary to fight against them with weapons. But it is more important to defeat them in their bad beliefs.

  • Taking those women as captives (right hand possesses)…
  • Making the children as slaves…
  • letting the others pay the Jizyah (tribute**)**…

The Roman Catholic Church is bashed by everyone. We have to defend our Faith. Some RCs get too personal & emotional.

Please, the initial Protestant bashing in this thread was not in reaction to any Catholic bashing. Go back and read it. It was unprovoked. Your lame excuse might work otherwise, though it still wouldn’t be a good excuse for returning wrong for wrong.

I meant everything in general. You are right, you can’t return wrong for wrong, that’s why I said that RCs get too personal and emotional.

Let us get back to the Jihad fanatics.

They should look at it this way:

If we don’t take care of the Islam problem there will be no bickering among themselves (ie: Catholic/Protestant, Democrat/Republican, Gay/Straight, Useful Idiot/Right, etc). Jihad in Islam wants all of these groups gone, all of our civilizations gone.

My original message (the one about how no group of protestants is obligated to listen to the teachings of another) is IMHO not protestant-bashing but a simple statement of fact. But pls do correct me if I’m wrong.

It’s good that some muslims want to have bloodless jihads. But I fear the ones who do would at the very least ignore these muslims and at the very worst call them traitors, maybe even apostates.
