I know Fr. Kloster and he confirmed everything that I have written down. In the meeting between him and the Bishop the bishop just said that they didn’t need him anymore. Fr. Kloster told me that himself. He did no crime.I normally don’t reply to things in the Traditional area but i have to speak up for the bishop. You have no idea why Fr. Kloster was asked to leave the diocese. You say he was a good priest but you don’t know what was going on behind the scene. Instead of bashing the bishop why not give him the benefit of the doubt in having more infomation and making a decision based on that infomation. Support him as your shepard.
Remember being catholic is not a democracy. Just because you signed a petition doesn’t mean the bishop has to do what you ask. Because once again you don’t know know why Fr. Kloster was asked to leave.
I have a friend who just became a priest in your dicoese. He has nothing but good things to say about what is going on. He talks about how traditional these priest are now. But it will take time. You also have to remember that they are not trained in the latin mass. I don’t think most of them would mind doing a mass in latin but they don’t know how. They have respect for the mass and don’t wish to screw it up!

Did you read my whole post? Seems hard to believe that you could have done so and not noticed that item#1 would make it MORE advantageous to WAIT for the newly generous LEGAL immigration policy to shortly be implemented. NOWHERE did I propose an “amnesty” offer. Look up the difference between a “plea bargain” and amnesty please. Those here illegally before the policy is implemented will be on probation for a period of years and will have to pay a fine and community service. If your dictionary calls that amnesty, get a new one. Those who simply wait a couple months to immigrate legally will enjoy a MUCH faster track to citizenship.I have to disagree with the poster who wishes the law reform first & border security last for one, glaringly obvious, reason. How do we keep thousands & thousands who hear of the law debate & amnesty proposals from rushing to get in here so they can take advantage?
In all the conversations I have had on this topic, one thing seems clear, people simply do not trust the government to enforce the border after amnesty, they had been promised that after the Regan amnesty. I believe they would support some kind of resident alien or citizenship path for those already here, but will not believe in government promises to secure the border afterwards. You know the fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me? They dont want to be taken for fools again, by a government, now more than ever, which seems completely deaf to the citizens wishes.
That is like saying “Let’s not prosecute the drug dealers and prostitutes now because in the not too distant future drugs will be legal and sex for money will be the law of the land.” Grow up and start enforcing the law. ’Those who label ANYTHING other than immediate deportation as “amnesty” reveal how influenced they are by certain talk radio and TV personalities…
I think that MANY of the people crossing the border are NOT starving. They are coming for the allure of free health care, MORE money and social services not available in their own country.Every crime has a proportionate penalty. Walking off with the pen after signing the credit card receipt is a rather less serious infraction than robbing the cash register, don’t you think? Both are theft, no? Should both be charged with the same offense?
These people broke the law, true. In order to restore their dignity and redeem themselves they SHOULD be required to plead guilty to that, pay the nominal fine (or community service) ad be put on a longer, less rewarding track to citizenship than those who waited. That’s what I’ve been saying all along.
The fact is that this is the SAME kind of penalty our judicial system routinely hands out for things like petty theft and vandalism. Do you seriously contend that crossing the border in order to find work that can feed your family, shelter them and buy them medicine is a more serious crime than slashing somebody’s car tires? Grow up yourself!
Ohh please. My grandparents worked for very little money doing jobs as children that are now illegal for children to do. This country 150 years ago was an agricultural and industrial powerhouse. Today most of heavy industry has moved TO MEXICO or ASIA where those people are exploited for their CHEAP labor. The USA passed laws making this type of work unprofitable in this country.Let me guess. You are like me and live in a lilly white suburb. Unlike me, you’ve NOT been a member of a parish with a large Mexican population.

Of COURSE they are sending money back to Mexico! That’s where they left the families that they couldn’t feed and shelter on the wages they could get there. In many cases, that money is being sent there to fund the coyote passage of the NEXT family member to make the crossing.
I agree with you that today’s immigration patterns are NOT those of 150 years ago. Back then, we WELCOMED the tired, poor huddled masses yearning to be free. Today we arrest and deport them. The difference is US, not them. If we had an immigration system more like we had 150 years ago, we’d have immigrants like we did then too. Whole families would move to America and become Americans over time, instead of becoming exploited non-persons with no rights and an ever building resentment of people who refuse to share the opportunities that their grandparents had.
And they still CAN come here legally. Most just don’t want to follow the law and so they come here illegally. If I were to meet some so called “Illegal” Aliens, my first call would be to ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement). That is like saying “If you would just meet the [Insert Criminal of your choice here] you would be able to put yourself in their shoes”.I’m not sure what it means to “point someone into a demographic to support my views” means. What I WANT is for you to go out there and MEET some real, live illegal aliens. It helps credibility on the subject a lot.
You are correct to note that things weren’t rosy for immigrants 150 years ago. The latest immigrant has ALWAYS been given the crummy jobs for the least pay. As catholics, we ought to at least have that much cultural memory.
Your argument on economics is EXACTLY why established Americans 150 years ago scorned catholic immigrants, formed the KnowNothing party and hung out “no Irish Allowed” signs on their establishments. They resented the intrusion of cheap labor too. Turnabout is fair play though…
But back then they were ALLOWED to come here and bring their families. That was the major difference. Even if they permanently could never rise above toilet scrubber, they could hope that their children would, because they were HERE, not back in Poland, Ireland and Italy receiving a (tiny) monthly check from dad.
