Jean Anthony has agreed to be moderator for the Liturgy and Sacraments forum. If you have encounter difficulty in this forum, please contact her by private message or by submitting a Bad Post Report. Thanks!

Jean, thank you for becoming the Moderator of this forum. Thank you, Marian, for the great job that you have done when you were the Moderator. God bless both of you. 🙂

welcome Mod
we expect you to have memorized the GIRM and the RS, and if you are an expert on Eastern liturgies as well that will be counted as a plus. there will be a test. (actually lots of tests). people on this forum can get testy at times, so it is best if you do a check each day and make sure we have all taken our meds. the good thing about this forum is you are not required to have anything whatever to do with peeps.

for today it will be enough if you sing all verses to Pange Lingua (if you can’t find your hymnal, you can do Lord of the Dance) that will show who is awake and paying attention

Welcome. The discussions are probably going to make you feel as though Armageddon has already broken out. There are many polemical issues, especially regarding what the USCCB didn’t do (or did do-depending on the camps) regarding Sacred Music.

I am definetely having a hard time maintaining a thick skin with some of the stuff being thrown around.

There is a lot of misinformation floating around. I’ve accepted correction for a statement I made on the Pauline and Petrine priveleges, but it’s as though people don’t read the documents, and, there are some who don’t even have much regard for Pope Benedict’s statements on liturgy (pre and post Conclave). 🤷

It just makes me wonder.

Thank you for the welcome (and the warnings 😉 ). I will do my best, even if I can’t sing Pange Lingua from memory, in Latin or in English. 🙂

Jean it is a good thing you are here. there had been some thought of conducting this forum entirely in Latin but I think we have succeeded in pushing those folks over to TC.

I don’t think any of us have ever made that suggestion. But, just what do people have against Latin?

Jean, when I joined the forum, I thought that, since it was a Catholic Answers page, there would be some sensus fideum (sense of the Faith). Hoewver, it has not been the case with a few of the posters. It really does bother me and I’m beginning to wonder if this is just a symptom of a greate problem.

Bye, Marian Carrol :crying: Your moderating style was long lived (well at least since I joined the forum) and unique. With some really spectacular thread closing statements.
Thank you for the welcome (and the warnings ). I will do my best, even if I can’t sing Pange Lingua from memory, in Latin or in English.
 😉 Is that why you were punished with this forum? 😉

Welcome. 👍

I too will miss Marian Carroll’s presence on the forum. She was a great moderator. 👍 Her contribution will be missed, indeed.

Goodness! I hope my lack of Latin wasn’t the motivation for assigning me to L&S! 😃 I think most of us moderators would be in big trouble if we had to take any kind of Latin test.

I ask everyone’s prayers and patience as I take over the reins. I will do my best to make posting on the L&S forum a good experience for all.
