Here’s how a Priest on another forum responded to that questions:

Fr. D: “Hey. I am from Kentucky and OF COURSE it is the holy land. Actually the reason is that the part of kentucky near Bardstown was a great center of Catholicism. It was the Seat of the Diocese before moving to Louisville. The Dominican Fathers began their US Apostolate in that area, there is St. Catherine’s College with the Motherhouse of the St. Catherine Dominican Sisters, the Mother House of the Sisters of Loretto, and the Mother House of the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth. At one time you are talking about 1000 sisters in two of those convents, and 500 in the other. Then there is Gethsemane Abbey with the Trappists. Nelson County, Ky was about 90 percent Catholic at one time. Jefferson Davis, our beloved President, studied for a year with the Dominican Friars at St. Thomas College also in that area, but that has long been torn down. So you see there was a lot going on there in former times.”

Oh I see. Sorry. I didn’t realise it was a lighthearted comment.

Hope I won’t get in trouble for this, but…

I had a teacher who said his family was from the “Holey Land” of Kentucky.

According to him, it was the Holey Land because everything had holes in it!

PS…I love Kentucky…
