I’m saddened to see that this news isn’t being more widely reported in the archdiocese. The website says nothing about this, CalCatholic (the Archdiocese’s official newsletter) is silent. I’ve even perused various parish bulletins online but to no avail.
The SF Archdiocese Newsletter is not CalCatholic but Catholic San Francisco. 😉

The current issue of CathSF does not include the announcement, but possibly that had to do with submission deadlines.

The news is indeed on the current SF Archdiocese’s webpage, as well as the Star of the Sea bulletin. That said, I agree with you that that’s not enough publicity! 🙂 Perhaps you could call the Archdiocese office and suggest they put it on page one, instead of buried in the link “Parishes and Masses.”

P.S. I’m curious that you identify as “Atheist,” yet regret the lack of publicity for the Latin Mass. 🙂

It’s been listed on the website, clickable from a pull down menu on the home page under Parishes and Masses > Extraordinary Form (Traditional Latin Mass).

I noticed it last week. Okay, you have to be looking for it. 🙂

I’ve been trying to spread the news by mouth to whoever will listen. Outside of the OP link and this thread on CAF, there’s really no source propagating this information. Hopefully we can bump this thread periodically.
The Archdiocese’s newsletter is Catholic SF, not Cal Catholic. While the news was not explicitly published on our Parish’s bulletin (I’m at St. Dominic’s), it was mentioned during the announcements the last two Sundays, so perhaps it is getting more exposure than you thought! 🙂

The Archbishop has plenty of experience in dealing with this issue as he was an Auxilaiary Bishop in San Diego, which has and has had for many years a thriving Latin Mass community which now has grown into a fully traditional Parish. The Archbishop celebrated Mass in the Extraordinary Form for them on more than one occasion.

He is definitely the right man for this job. San Francisco has indeed been truly blessed in this regard.

Did anyone go to the first meeting this last week? Anyone plan on attending any of the other meetings?

I may be able to attend the one this Tuesday, otherwise I’m swamped with end-of-the-term school work. In CAF right now is my guilty little distraction 😛

Last meeting seems to be tonight!! And mass finally on Sunday at 11am!!

Just wanted to give this thread a good bump.

2 days left! I’ve already spoken to many people in my parish that will be attending out of sheer curiosity, and none of these folks have ever been to a TLM, so if you’re in the SF area, this Sunday is the best time to come: most everyone will be just as new to it as you 🙂

Please remember to go. This is very important to the parish as well. God bless you!!
