New Lifetime TV series "The Sisterhood: Becoming Nuns"

I saw a commercial about it. I thought it was really neat that a major TV channel is providing an inside look on it. I will at least watch the first episode.
 
I hope they don’t try to sensationalize it. A little dramatization is expected, but I hope they don’t turn it into “The Real Wives of Jesus.”
 
After reading “THE ADMIRABLE LIFE OF MOTHER MARIANA” the 400 year old story of a foundress of the Conceptionist Convent in Quito, Ecuador which will stand until the end of time along with the miraculous statue of Our Lady of Good Success which is housed there it’s difficult to watch this. I watched the promo. I hope its done well. 🙂

That sounds like someone said “Well, we have The Bachelor… and The Bachelorette… how can we milk this franchise a little further?”

“I know! Let’s have The Catholic Bachelorette! No rose? Then off to the seminary you go!”

Nothing about even the premise of the show sounds like it had the potential to be good…

(Disclaimer: I have never watched a single episode of either The Bachelor or The Bachelorette, and know nothing beyond the fact that everyone seems to want a rose, and if you don’t get one, I assume some appropriate dramatic fate befalls you).
 
I just am a little confused by the pencil skirts? I tried to look up the aspirants’ uniforms for the orders, but couldn’t find many pictures or descriptions (and I did not find any pencil skirts, either). I don’t know…they seemed a little form fitting for aspirants’ uniforms. I’m a little put off by that party scene…it just seems way different than the lives (such as curfews and limitations to where the aspirants can go) of my friends in seminaries and formation programs.

We all know shows like this derive themselves from drama, and the preview seems to fit that description.
 
Just remember that the actors in “Breaking Amish,” weren’t really Amish (they all had already left the church years earlier, for example), “Amish Mafia,” is completely fictional…etc. etc. etc.
 
I will have to look for the program. I thought it was about wives in a polygamous marriage.
These reality shows are so scripted abd edited, but I will give it a try.
 
Just from reading the link, the show could be done really well and be a great way to evangelize people who really know nothing about Catholicism in general and/or religious life in particular, or it could be stereotypical reality TV trash. (Knowing Lifetime I suspect the latter, but hey, maybe I’ll be surprised.) I might DVR the first episode to see if it’s worth watching.

I’m curious as to why you consider it “utter bologna.”

Reality tv loves conflict. They’re going to make it absolutely ridiculous,
 
It seems similar to the spate of Amish shows in recent years which, I believe, were found to have been made with actors and misrepresented Amish people and Amish life. I wouldn’t bother to watch it. If you have a convent nearby; go and visit the nuns and pray with them! Far better! 🙂
 
It has the POTENTIAL of being a really good show and informing people about religious life in the Church. How the producers play it out could be another story.
 
I plan to give the show a try just to see what it gets right and how well it’s done. I wanted to watch Lisa Lang the other day for the same reason but Dish took my channels! :mad:
 
I’m gonna DVR the first episode to see if it’s good. Looks interesting…
