As we are still waiting for the changes of the Mass in English.I wonder if other languages had similar problems as had us English speakers since Vatican 2 with the translation of the Mass.

I believe we are still waiting for the new Spanish language lectionary for use in US with Hispanic congregations. Why we can’t adopt one already approved for Latin America is beyond my understanding. the current translation used keeps much more of the original Latin meanings.
where English has the response to Peace be with you as “and also with you”, the Spanish has “Y con tu espiritu”. for example. also hermanos retains its grammatical meaning in Spanish, collectively referring to all, male and female, unless some PC lector changes it to hermanos y hermanas (brothers and sisters).

I’ve wondered about the reasons for the delayed Spanish translation too.
I can only speculate that there are arguments between those who want to modernize the language versus those who want to stay close to the Latin.
I mean, Spanish and Latin are SO similar that it must be hard not to stay the same.
I suppose in the case of the Lectionary there are some who think the Latin translations of scripture are not what they should be… But that’s a thread for the Scripture forum. And I know I’m not qualified to address such a topic anyways.

As of now, the Holy Father has ordered that all litugical books, including the Sacramentary of the United States be revised to a more lets say correct translation. There are certain translations in this edition that are not exactly correct all of the way. The US Confrence of Bishops have tried three or four times on re translating the Missals, but the Holy See has rejected all three times. As of now, the Vatican Translating Comittte for the English Liturgies is translating and sending it over. The new English edition will be put in to use within the next 2 or 3 years to come. New English translation? I’ve heard rumors of such a thing but, like the Loch Ness monster, it’s rarely been seen by a credible source.
Last I heard, a lot of the bishops were crying about the draft version, saying it would be too hard for the sheeple in the pews to learn new English words.
I think they even complained the English in the draft sounded too English. 
Who knew the USCCB had so many reactionaries and traditionalists who want to maintain the status quo and spurn anything new? I hear our shepherds might hold their breath until they turn blue if the Vatican doesn’t give them their way.

this also displays a kind of apathy and laziness that I often notice among those who describe themselves as proudly “orthodox” or “conservative” - the idea that the problems in the Church are all due to not having “decent” bishops in leadership instead of, in fact, because Catholics - that’s you and I - aren’t following Christ as we could be.

see, nothings gunna change by comfortably and safely griping on an internet forum - what are YOU actually doing to make a difference in the church? are YOU doing anything about helping out women with unplanned pregnancies, or people with samesex attractions, or drugusers, or those with unformed consciences, or wayward young people, or lonely old people? or are you just sitting on your backside and blowing hot air around, and expecting “the bishops” to do it all.

In Australia the ABC did have a copy of the first draft on the internet (subsequently removed) - and let me tell you every line the priest and people say will be different. We will all need new missals to follow the new translation.
