I am interested in reading some of the latest draft of the forthcoming mass translation. I have seen many people quote parts of it discussing it on blogs and etc.

Does anyone know of any website with the draft text posted?

I know it isn’t final but I would like to read over the current draft.

Anyone?

Yah, I’ve seen such news reports, but obviously someone has a copy of the text or there wouldn’t be reports like this.

I would think that there must be copies floating around the internet… somewhere…

I would like to look through the whole text.

Anyone?

Here’s a brand new article on the new Mass translation in the Catholic Herald (March 23, 2007). It’s an interview with George Cardinal Pell, the Archbishop of Sydney and one of the heads of the new translation committee:

New Mass translation is 'dangerously close’

Cardinal George Pell, the Archbishop of Sydney, is in a good mood. The new English translation of the Mass, a process which he has been overseeing for five years, is finally nearing completion…(more)

Matthias, I’ve been hunting and I think I’ve found it.

Happy reading!

Sorry. I tried it and the link won’t work. Here’s where I found that link.

jimmyakin.org/2006/06/new_mass_transl.html

Go about halfway down the page. There is a post by someone named Christopher that says

“Here is the PDF doc you reference.” It links right to the document.
I don’t think that would have been the translation now voted upon by the several English-speaking episcopal conferences and awaiting approval from the Holy See.

Rather, it is would have been an earlier draft translation, briefly leaked in April 2004, and quickly (mostly) removed from websites. I’ll not post a link to it here.

(I shall, however, merely hint: archive.org/index.php )

NB and caveat: If you should come across such a text, it is a much earlier draft, not the current draft.

I don’t know. That “and also with you” line will be hard to replace. Good luck trying to get the congregation to change on that one.

It’s almost become a standard of the New Mass, just like “et cum spiritu tuo” in the Tridentine Mass.

Of course, it’s still “et cum spiritu tuo” in the New Mass. 😉
