PAX VOBISCUM

Hello all. I have a unique story here. I converted to Catholicism in 1999 via The Priestly Fraternity of St Peter. I recently moved to a new town to finish up my college degree and the only Mass I can attend is the Ordinary form. I have never experienced it until last Sunday. My whole Catholic life has been lived as if Vatican II and the new Mass never even happened. What I am wondering is are there any good books out there that explain the Ordinary form? Similar to The Study of the Roman Liturgy by Fr. Florescu or The Holy Mass by Dom Prosper Guranger. Those two books are about the traditional Mass what I am looking for are books about the new Mass or Ordinary form I guess its called.

Thank you very much

You attended a Priestly Fraternity of St Peter church and you lived as if Vatican II had not happened?

Here you are

Shame you can’t find an EF in your area, if you can gather a group large enough, you can request your Priest to say one?

Keep in mind most priests don’t know the EF of Mass or know Latin. However, get a group together and make the request to the bishop to establish one in the in diocese.

Many priests don’t know how to celebrate the OF either, until they are taught. Same goes for the EF. If they don’t know it, then they should learn it!

I found this very funny!

I think you meant to say “many seminarians don’t know…” instead of “many priests.”

The more I think about it though, the more I realize that there’s a lot of truth to it.

Are you looking for a guide to the Mass, or an account of the reform which produced the Mass?

This was published in 2002 so I’d personally avoid it. It might be of some use. I’d be tempted to contact the publisher to see if they’re about to put out a new edition following the re-translation of the Mass.
Ah, thanks for the info.

You’re welcome.

When I saw the link I thought I’d like to buy it. I checked it’s availability on Amazon and found it’s publication date. It’d be interesting to know if they’re going to update it in light of the new Mass translation.
