The people’s parts have not changed much but the whole thing is much more literal to the Latin and poetic yet still readable and proclaimable. I find it much more deeper and richer personally.
French, Italian, Spanish, German, Portugeese speakers aren’t getting a new transaltion. Why? Becuase they already have a literal one, we English speakers don’t. Pope John Paul II asked for one so here it comes.
some eg’s
Lord I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof
but only say the word and my soul shall be healed
replace soul with servant and you have a direct quote from the Gospels
And with your spirit. [spiritus]
This harkens back to the Priest’s ordination unlike the right back at ya father we currently have
We praise you,
we bless you,
we adore you,
we glorify you,
we give you thanks for your great glory,
We get the deleted part of the Gloria back !!!
consubstantial with the Father;
The Creed more literally translates the Latin. Jesus truly is of the same substance as the Father
was incarnate of the Virgin Mary
The Creed again. Jesus didn’t just pop in and then 9 months later out of Mary’s womb - he was incarnate of her.
May the Lord accept the sacrifice at your hands
for the praise and glory of his name,
for our good
and the good of all his
holy Church.
The world holy from the Latin is translated instead of being left out as with the old translation
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ,
and the love of God,
and the communion of the Holy Spirit
be with you all.
Communuin, much more Catholic theological word than fellowship
so that from the rising of the sun to its setting
a pure sacrifice may be offered to your name.
From east to west in the old EP3. Now quotes the Malachi Eucharist prophecy more literally
The Offetory antiphons if my Sunday Missal is to go by were never transalted into English even though they are part of the Mass - now they will be transalted.
