Ok, I thought that the changes were supposed to start taking effect this Advent?
Today at my local parish we were told that the new Missals were in so I picked one up. I had noticed how silent everyone at this parish had been about changes but thought that when they happened people would pick them up pretty fast.
So tonight, I get my new Missal, a “St Joseph Sunday Missal” for 2011, and I look and NOTHING is changed in it. (please see here for what should be different - usccb.org/romanmissal/samples-people.shtml)
Should I be using a completely different MIssal or is this one just outdated or what? I mean, my whole parish will be not saying the correct responses for an entire year at this rate.
Or did they just change the date of when the changes should begin?

In the US, the new translation goes into effect on the first Sunday of Advent 2011.

No, it’s next Advent (November 27, 2011). They haven’t changed the date, that’s the date they set. It was never announced for this Advent, and in fact according to reports they’re still hammering out changes, so the revised missal isn’t ready even to go to the printer yet. So don’t worry, your missal is right! You shouldn’t expect to see any changes until a year from now.

If your parish was selling Missals I would have made people aware that they would be obsolete come November 28, 2011, or at the very least I would hope they were selling them at a big discount. Books with the new translations are not to be published until the go ahead is given by the BCDW and that doesn’t look like it is coming very soon, which is really cutting it close to have everying published by the implementation date.

I think she’s referring to annual publications. The ones I’m familiar with are the annual “St. Joseph Sunday Missal” and Novalis “Sunday Missal”.

My mistake. I am only familiar with the St. Joseph Sunday Missal as a permanent book not as a annual.
