The most recent translation of the Mass seems to have introduced an error into the translation of the Nicene Creed, at the following point:
“Et incarnátus est de Spíritu Sancto xx María Vírgine, et homo factus est.”
Now, the new translation renders it thus:
“And by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man.”
It seems as if they are taking some licence in using “became man”. The verb is clearly “factus est”- “is made.”
