St. George, one of my Confirmation “namesakes,” is depicted slaying a dragon…the neighbors around here don’t appreciate my Georgian devotion, as the dragon carcasses seem to be a bit of a hassle when trying to back the car down the driveway…

Kidding, naturally…I usually dispose of my dragon carcasses in an appropriate and timely manner.

PS–I’ve actually formed most of my outlook on life based on a metaphorical interpretation of the Legend of St. George…fighting evil, protecting the ladies…wearing armor…fun stuff, all of it…👍

My parish confirmation certificate includes my confirmation name. Although I realize that it is technically not part of my legal name, I use it in a variety of official settings as a part of my name. Rarely is the legality an issue. It appears on my papal blessing. It even appears on my master’s diploma from a state university!

I debated between Kateri Tekakwitha (not sure if she has been canonized yet) and Teresa of Avila. My love of Spanish won over my wanting the bishop to comment on having a funny name. And it wasn’t the bishop that confirmed us anyway.

Shows how much my wonderful Catholic school taught me about Catholicism.

But, God was there. Teresa of Avila wrote “God alone suffices.” I remember that from the half-page report we had to do on our Confirmation saint. Lately, that has been what gets me through the day. My friends are wonderful, but if they are gone, well, I have God. And that’s all I need. But, it is more fun when I have friends around.
