Am I the only new person (I’m awaiting RCIA) who is excited about some things to come such as advent?

There are** So **many things running through my mind, Some are more important than others right now but they are there none the less.
Even though its just April I am excited about Christmas this year.

This year it will be so special I can hardly wait. It will have meaning as never before.
As a child I believed it was celebrated in honor of the birth of Christ.
(I was not raised in a christian home although my Mother did encourage it some. I would walk to the nearest church prodestant)

As an adult I was taught in the prodesant church I attended it was nothing but a pagan holiday and should not be observed.
Now just the thought of it almost brings tears (joyful) to my eyes.

I want an advent candle and to go to a nursing home and share the joy of it.
Perhaps even go caroling and or serve Chistmas dinner at a homeless sheter.

I am excited to have Chistmas in my life again in a whole new fantastic way.

Anyone else have those feelings or do you think its just silly?

Well how wonderful for you. Remember some of those people in the Nursing Homes might not be there this coming Xmas. No not silly at all.😉

? do you mean Protestant Church? Most of them celebrate Chistmas don’t they. The ones I know do.

I love Advent and Christmas, too! This past year I have experience the more traditional way of celebrating this time of the year and learned more about it and it’s even more wonderful to me than before.

If you have $20 to spend, I highly recommend this book: St. Francis de Sales’ Sermons for Advent and Christmas:

That sounds more like Jehovah Witness than Protestant! Very fundamentalist if not JW.

Welcome Home! Catholics LOVE Christmas! You can put out a nativity set and keep all your decorations up until Epiphany! Yay!

Until the 1850s most Protestants avoided celebrating it. These folks may be holding out still.

You can even leave them up until the Feast of the Presentation if you want! (unless Ash Wednesday comes first) That’s a month of Christmas!

Thanks, it was not JW but…simular in some respects. More like pentecostal.

I remember that burning eagerness from when I began to explore my faith and finally live it, it is a wonderful experience and not silly in the slightest. Now while my giddy excitement has mellowed somewhat, my joy has deepened with each passing year. God Bless you and I hope your wait to become Catholic is a short one.

Thank you, these forums are very helpful 🙂

Noooooo you are not silly! Reading this made me so happy to see someone so enthusiastic. I pray that you always remain on fire for the Catholic Faith! 👍

That being said…Easter is a pretty awesome season too! 😃 So don’t forget about that!

I did not forget Easter, It was wonderful! I loved my first Easter season in the Cahtholic church!
I have my blessed palm and still considering what I want to do with it. Thinking of making it into a cross but nervous about trying as I dont want to mess it up.

Silly?

Refreshing!

I share your joy! Wait till you share it with children! It is a marvel to see the Faith through a child’s eyes. It’s like seeing the Faith all over for the first time again.

Venite Adoremus!

Oh thank you all. Glad to know I was not just silly. Its all so wonderful!

It’s tough to make a palm cross once the palm has dried out. You need to make them right away, I always see people making them as soon as they get them. But I guess you could cut the palm fronds and glue them together.

If you google “Palm Cross” you can find instructions for next year. I need to be shown something in person - it’s hard for me to follow a video and even worse, written instructions, but you might be different. There are tons of videos on YouTube.
