New Pro-Life Campaign

Get a red envelope. You can buy them at Kinkos, or at party supply stores. On the front, address it to

**President Barack Obama
The White House
**1600 Pennsylvania Ave.
Washington
, D.C. 20500

On the back, write the following message.

This envelope represents one child who died in abortion.
It is empty because that life was unable to offer anything to the world.
Responsibility begins with conception.

Put it in the mail, and send it. Then forward this to every one of your friends who you think would send one too. I wish we could send 50 million red envelopes, one for every child who died before having a chance to live. Maybe it will change the heart of the president.

Dear Kathleen,

How do you know “that life was unable to offer anything to the world” ?

I mean, as someone who believes that life does indeed begin at conception, how do we know that a life ended in utero didn’t offer something? Isn’t that the equivalent of having no value or having made no impact? Such a statement would totally nullify the pro-life stance of all life having immesurable value! Because we believe in an all merciful and all loving God, isn’t it possible that He uses each child to bring about His glory in His way and in His own due time?

That statement just bothers me. Maybe it’s because I believe that even the innocent victims of heartbreakingly abhorent abortions DID LIVE in their mother’s wombs - even if it was only for a tragically short time. What do you think? Isn’t there a better way to phrase the message?

Also, since the USPS has said that red envelopes cause their sorting machines to jam, should we think about a different color?

God’s peace!

Sending such an obvious color (whatever color is chosen) after a while the White House postal staff will just pitch them in the trash. The President doesn’t actually get all the mail… only the ones that they think he needs to see, the rest is handles by staffers or just thrown away. After the first 100 thousand or so they see they will just end up in the trash.

Great idea though! I do like the idea just not all the same color envelope.

Well no matter what the staff will see. OR else they will be breaking federal law due to the fact that only the receiver can open or throw away mail that is sent by the US Mail service.

This life was not able to live out its human potential. This life could have been a butcher, baker or candlestick maker. Or this life could have produced the cure for cancer, environmental problems, could have ended the mid-East conflict. This is what this means.

RED envelopes have to be hand sorted. More people to see the message.

Hi again!

I think I get your point - that the aborted child was not able to live to adulthood to accomplish some goal . . . .

But again, I humbly ask, are we really in a position to know that an aborted baby DIDN’T fullfil his or her tiny little mission? Perhaps a child has caused the parents to regret their “choice” - their action of murder - and brought them back to God’s healing love? Perhaps another was able to convince an inactive Catholic to join the pro-life movement?

I don’t mean to be a pain. I just believe with all my heart that God uses situations we can’t understand to bring about His glory in His time. Perhaps none of the millions of aborted children were supposed to bring about amazing cures or end wars or be the next Pope or any of that?

I agree SOMETHING needs to be done and I’m not sure the anti-FOCA postcard campaign was enough. But I’m also not convinced that this red envelope thing sends precisely the right message.

I mean, you even suggested creating additional work for the USPS is a positive (in that more people see the envelopes). . . . .but is that what we want a pro-life message to convey? Not only will some postal workers likely be turned off by all the hand sorting, but isn’t putting an extra burden on them - when they’ve asked the general population not to use red envelopes - working against respecting their lives?

Again, I don’t mean to be negative… . . just want to be sure we’re not setting ourselves up for criticism from the outside world.

Please, let’s pray for each other and for all of the children of this world – the unborn and those little ones who need us most.

God’s peace

The President receives thousands of pieces of mail everyday. He does not open them… if he had to he would be there all day just doing mail and nothing else. Like I said great idea but the execution needs to be different.

Paul

Let them get tired of seeing red envelopes. It is a good idea. The clear visual signal it sends will have an effect.

If there are any other good ideas please offer them.

God bless

I was thinking of writing instead:

It is empty because that life was unable to offer anything to the world.
Responsibility begins at conception.
“There is no God that condones taking the life of an innocent human being.”
May you be blessed in life!

One very powerful blessing is conversion, as St. Paul received this great grift from God!

Is this too soft or does it convey more respect and kindness?? 🤷

I like this. It is the act of sending these envelopes and not the exact wording. If we put our own heart felt words on them they make an even better impact.
