New Stryper album "Fallen"

Any word on the new Stryper album? 80’s-style headbanging album. I like the acoustic version of “All Over Again,” though it’s technically not really acoustic (“acoustic” should mean only one acoustic/unplugged guitar) – was this released as a ‘single’ to any CCM radio stations?

From the songs they have released so far it sounds pretty good. When I was kid we used to laugh at Stryper all the time, but they actually rock really hard! Eddie Trunk has a bunch of stryper updates on his website.

I didn’t know Stryper came out with a new one. I’ll have to ask my brother about it. He has all of their albums. I know their last few have been pretty solid.

I saw them in concert back in 2001. Great show. It struck me how much Michael Sweet could still hit those high notes unlike some other 80s bands whose lead singers’ voices suffered the natural consequences of years of smoking and drinking.

I’m definitely looking forward to checking out the new album.

Side note, I saw them perform at the Altar Bar (a former Catholic church building, I’m pretty certain) in Pittsburgh in June of last year. The venue promised on their website that they were wheelchair accessible – I use a chair to get around – but that turned out to be a big fat lie. I had to be carried up and down the front steps, and even up and down steps inside when I had to use the restroom. I was pretty miffed, and even filed a complaint with the Department of Justice. Although when the DOJ sent me a letter earlier this year offering me the opportunity to enter into arbitration, I decided not to pursue … the Altar Bar’s punishment will simply be not getting my business in the future. Anyway, I don’t hold that against Stryper. I know Michael Sweet was at the Hard Rock Pittsburgh – which I know IS accessible – a couple of months ago; I thought about going to that show at one point, but didn’t.

I enjoyed the show, though as usual with live rock shows I had trouble understanding a lot of the lyrics. It doesn’t help, I’m sure, that I’ve always been deaf in my left ear.

I remember there was one lady near the back of the audience area (close to the entrance) who was dancing up a storm. She was almost as much entertainment as the band was.

Yeah, I usually have to read the lyrics if I want to understand the words.
