A couple years ago I got an auto-call at my family home with a robotic voice asking for my dad. “Is (dad’s name) there?” Dad died in 1990, and there is nobody else in the family with his name, or anything close.

Maybe it was calling up from the beyond? 😀
I saved the message on the answering machine for a while, but accidentally deleted it. Probably just as well. It was a bit creepy as you said.

Yeah got the same thing.

Also I got calls from the IRS or so they claim.

Got calls from the Social Security Administration or so they claim.

This is why I don’t answer my phone anymore if I don’t recognize the number.

There’s scammers all over the place.
We bought an actual call blocker that we have to set up.

I’m so tired of receiving these types of phone calls, and I’m also tired of having our own home phone number being spoofed, too.

We have also received the IRS calls, and the Microsoft phone calls, too.

My husband was not home to hear the MS call until one day he actually heard the automated robocall come through from them about how our Windows computer would be hijacked. It was actually pretty ridiculous, but I could see how someone might be afraid and fall for these scam calls if they don’t know about them and haven’t heard about them.

As others have said, these calls are aggressive, and they’re meant to instill fear into the people that receive them.

The message/s imply that something seriously bad will happen to you–the receiver of the phone call–if you don’t follow through on what the message is telling you to do.

With the IRS phone call, the message tells you that you owe back taxes, and that you’ll be going to jail and that the police will be coming to arrest you, too.
