This is GREAT news! I absolutely love the TLM at St. Martin’s and go every week. I’ve always had such great experiences there–with the exception of a fainting episode that occured a few weeks ago, but that only happened once. 🙂 I’ll definately try and go to the new 8:00 AM TLM once I can. I’ve never seen the church, though. Does anyone have a picture of the inside?
Slain in the Spirit, eh? 😛

Ok, I must say that it’s very cool that so many from St Martin’s are here on this site 🙂

Guardian Angels is on the right going out Preston, just about halfway between the Watterson Expressway and Fern Valley Rd. Nowhere near as far out as Southern High School.

Driving south on 65, you’d get off at Grade Lane, take a left off the ramp, and a right on Preston. Then it’s not too far down on the right.

Heading north on 65, get off at Fern Valley, take a right off the ramp, and go down and take a left on Preston, then watch for it on the left. If you see Popeyes Chicken on the right, you went too far. Good chicken, but wait till after Mass 😃

Hey Rachel, if either you or At Trent decide to go down to Guardian Angels for the 8 o’clock Mass within the next fiew weeks, plese just let me know, and we could meet down there.

On a side note, if I’m not still sick on Wednesday, I plan on going to the EF at St. Martin’s for the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. When I called the parish, the lady told me that it was going to be at 6 P.M., so I made my reservations for my ride accordingly. Since it’s a major Marian feast, maybe it’ll be a solemn high Mass like the one they had back in August for the Feast of the Assumption. I hope so, because I only got to hear part of the one for the Assumption from the St. Gregory chapel and the back of the church while I was waiting for the bus, and I’d like to hear one up close.
8 A.M. is a tough time for me to make, but I’ll let you know if I plan to go there.

Yep, 6 so far 🙂

I’ve got to get back in the habit of going to St Martin’s every week. Gotta tell my boss no more Saturday night late shifts. 🙂

Yea 8 a.m. is tough for me too because as far away as I am, I’d have to get up at 5am to make the drive lol. Besides, I really like St Martins, I feel “at home” there 🙂

Yea, yesterday was kind of empty… The area where I normally sit literally had me and one other woman until the Mass started, then 5 others came trickling in… I guess the tiny bit of snow freaked everyone out. I’ll never understand what the issue is in Louisville with people and snow (or any weather event) lol.

Hmm, you know, some may have went to the new 8 AM Mass. Most people who go to St Martins have to drive a ways to get there because it’s downtown. But the elderly folks may have stayed home.

As far as the weather, the news stations are ridiculous. Ever the smallest thunderstorm looks enormous to the weather staff now that they have the newest weather tracking gizmos.

“Oh look, upper level rotation.”

Yea, maybe it was the new Mass that made it so empty… or maybe the snow ~shrug~ I guess we’ll have to see this coming Sunday eh?
As far as the drive, I’m driving over 30 miles each way to go weekly. Although, I’m actively looking for a place to move to near there (I’m thinking Highlands or Cherokee Park area maybe)

(upper level rotation LOL)

That was you that fainted? I prayed for you. I’m so glad you’re ok.
Thanks so much!
I agree that so many of the St. Martin’s congregation is here. It’s such a beautiful church and having it so avaliable just “makes my life”, so to speak. 🙂

St. Martin’s feels like home to me too. My heart was longing for it even during my period of absense. I think I counted 8 St. Martin’s related dreams I had during that period, though there may have been more.

I’ll try my best to make it a point to be at the next first Sunday TLM at St. Martin’s, to show my support for Father K.

Hi, good to meet you 👋 We are indeed blessed to have St Martins. Fr Charles prayed Mass there tonight. Good size crowd there. Fr Fred was there as well.

Josh, Have you ever been to the Alliance of the Two Hearts worship on a first Friday ? I haven’t yet but would love to.

That area is very nice. As long as you aren’t on Cherokee Rd proper, you can find some reasonably priced bungalows. The Clifton area just east of the Highlands is nice too.

You totally should go. It starts at 5pm with Confession with Fr Charles (until 6pm- get there early, there’s normally a line that lasts until 6pm when he’s done). Mass at 6pm (for the Sacred Heart of Jesus), another Mass at midnight (for the Immaculate Heart of Mary), and LOTS of prayer in between with Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament from after the 6pm Mass until just before the Midnight Mass.
If I have my way, I’ll be going to it the rest of my life 🙂

Do they print the offices out and have them there for everyone ?

I haven’t been to the First Friday or First Saturday devotions yet, mainly because the TARC 3 service I use to get around stops running at 10:30 P.M., so I’d have no way to get home, unless someone is willing to drive me all the way to PRP after the midnight Mass. I’ve had to turn down invitations to sing in the choir for those Masses because of that.

I was still running a temperature earlier this afternoon, so unfortunately, I wasn’t able to attend Mass tonight. If I’m over this flu or whatever it is by Sunday, which I should be, I plan on attending both the OF and EF Masses then. I really wanted to go tonight too, but I didn’t think I should since I was still running a temperature.

Hearing these wonderful descriptions of the Alliance of the Two Hearts and otherwise makes me wish I had gone! Unfortunately, it’s completely impossible for me to go to some Holy Day masses because I only have my learners’ permit and, most of the time, my parents don’t want to take the time to drive me “all the way” to St. Martin’s on a weekday, even 6:00 pm. 😦

Josh, you know, you don’t have to stay for the entire 6 hours. I’m sure many people come and go.

For future reference,
Here is a brief outline of the First Friday and First Saturday devotions.

One could go to St Martins for a while on First Friday, and then go to St Louis Bertand for the noon Mass the next day and fulfill the devotion, St Louis Bertrand has Confessions, Adoration and Benediction before the noon Mass.
