Do you guys have any recommendations on books / videos I could read or watch to learn more about Catholicism? I want to learn about the beliefs of the Catholic Church because I know there is a lot to learn coming from a protestant background. I found a video on youtube by Michael Cumbie, about misconceptions protestants have about Catholicism, which I found really interesting. Any more suggestions would be great!
One classic that is very good is in a small book. I have read it (given to me by a priest). It is: The Faith Explained (3rd Edition), by Leo J. Trese. Paperback, 580 pp, is about 10 USD.

Dr Scott Hahn is one of my fave authors & speakers. He is a convert from evangelicalism, so many of his books display convincing arguments for the Catholic as opposed to the protestant take on belief and practice. He is very accessible despite being an academic. Another great series for the convert is EWTN’s The Journey Home program. This is a series of interviews with converts from diverse backgrounds.

Also these forums are one of the best places to hang for new converts. The amount of information and support available here is amazing.

It seems like the douay-rheims is popular? I think the New American Bible might be what I will use. I really like the NIV version, so something similar would be best. Reading my Bible is really important to me, so it might seem weird to me if a lot of other people don’t read their Bibles on their own, but I like the idea of the entire Bible being read every 3 years in mass. The churches I’ve gone to pick and choose random verses each week, so even though I read my Bible a lot, I think there are still a lot of passages I have never read.
Not bad. You can check it out at New American Bible and the Douay-Rheims Bible online. The RSV is also online at RSV so by all means check 'em all out.

Many more Catholics read the Bible daily or nearly so that people think. Do any of us read it enough? 🤷
I did end up going to mass today and absolutely loved it! It was pretty small since it was a Monday mass and also on a holiday, but it felt completely right to me. I have really felt God leading me in that direction and I felt like I had such a strong connection with God today while I was in mass. I’m probably going to keep going to mass for a couple more months and get used to it, and then I will look into finding an RCIA class. I’m really excited to keep going to mass and learn more about Catholicism.
I strongly suggest Dr Edward Sri’s fantastic book A Biblical Walk Through the Mass which will blow you away.👍

You might also check out the Compendium of the Catechism of the Catholic Church and consider getting a copy. You’ll find it super informative and helpful. The full Catechism is also online at Catechism of the Catholic Church and there is a Searchable Catechism of the Catholic Church as well which is real handy.

One thing…I wouldn’t wait to ask about RCIA. many parishes have already begun their classes and it will prepare you to enter the church this coming Easter, so don’t delay, okay?
