This morning the Holy See announced the decision of Pope Benedict XVI to name Bishop-elect Robert Dwayne Gruss as Bishop of Rapid City, South Dakota, USA.
The diocese had been vacant since Bishop Blase Joseph Cupich was named Bishop of Spokane, Washington in June 2010.
Pope Benedict XVI also named Bishop-elect Bishop-elect Donald J. Hying as Auxiliary Bishop of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA and titular bishop of Regiae.
