Once again, the tutorials are delivered, one step at a time, as messages. When you carry out the instructions in each message, discobot will congratulate you and give you the next instructions. Keep following the instructions and you should keep getting messages, and that is what the tutorial is.

The new user tutorial is invoked by posting this:
@discobot start new user
and the advanced user tutorial is invoked by posting this:
@discobot start advanced user

Thanks. I understand that the tutorials are delivered one step at a time as messages. I was able to complete the New User tutorial this way.

After asking the same question in a number of areas, a PM appeared in my box to start that process. Since I do not know how I managed to get the starting message, I don’t know how to move forward to the advanced user tutorial. I have initiated messages to the “bot” and replied to several messages using the words
@discobot start advanced user
in the subject and the body of the message, but still the tutorial has not initiated. I suppose I could just accept that I am not able to access that one, and function within the limited capacity I have been permitted. It is just a disappointment for me as it seems the implementation of the new system has set me back to a permanent entry level user.

Then I click on the notification from discobot, and it takes me to a private message sent by discobot. If you follow the instructions contained in the message, it will send you more messages with further instructions, leading you step-by-step through the New User Tutorial.

See how that goes, and let us know if you have further questions.
Thank you, that did work. I was able to complete the new user tutorial using that method. I wanted to move on to the advanced tutorial,but was at a loss as to how to get it to initiate.

Can you be more plain about the “posting this” part? I tried sending this as a PM, using the words in both the subject and the message body.

Put the following text (bare text, not within a quotation) in a message body, like this:

@discobot start advanced user

and click the Reply button, like I am doing now…

… Shortly after I did that, I got a PM from discobot which is the beginning of the advanced tutorial.

If you try it here in this discussion, I will be able to see what you did.

Thanks I guess the magic is just to wait until the @discbot responds. it is not like clicking on a link, one just has to wait for the bot to find one.

Yes, you have to give him a chance to show up, and then respond to you. 🙂

Like I said, I had to figure out that you have to actually “Reply” to him like you would another member, here on the forum.

The funny thing that I did was that I wasn’t aware of that, so I was just kind of sitting there, waiting for something to happen, and nothing did, so I just waited, and waited, and waited…LOL!! 😁

Then it finally occurred to me that I should try replying, and then all of a sudden we had some movement going on and an actual conversation happened! 😆

Wouldn’t it make more sense to include in the Bot “reply to this message” ?!!

I can’t remember, but I think that the bot does tell you somewhere in the tutorial/s to remember to reply to him…

I just remember that there was a lot of information to go over, and that I had enough trouble trying to do that as it was…:roll_eyes: 😉

I have trouble with my memory, at times, when it comes to recalling information due to medication that I take.

I’m happy that you were able to take the tutorial, though. 🙂

I appreciate your help. Your responses encouraged me not to quit all together.

I’m glad of that. ❤️

Sometimes I think that I may not always explain things so clearly, when I post and try and explain something when I’m trying to help someone else.

I know that it takes some getting used to, to try and find your way around this new forum platform.

Just ask away if you have any further questions.

There are so many nice members here who try and help others, that I am sure someone will come along and try and help out. 🙂

God bless you, and may you have a most blessed Christmas season and a healthy and happy New Year, as well!
