New vs. 1917 Catholic Encyclopedia

The old 1917 Catholic Encyclopedia has many very good articles, but some more up-to-date ones are only in the New Catholic Encyclopedia. However, the new one is missing important articles, e.g., although it has a Counter-Reformation article like the 1917, it lakes a Council of Trent article which the 1917 version has.

My question is: Which Catholic Encyclopedia do you prefer, and why? Thanks

Is the new one online? I only ever use the old one because it’s right at my fingertips.

Isn’t it 1914, not 1917? I believe they started publishing the volumes in 1907 and were finished by 1914. Thus, you will see some people refer to it as the 1907 Encyclopedia and others refer to it as the 1914 Encyclopedia.
