Hi all,
I figured that the beginning of 2009 was as good a time as any to finally change my username (see signature) (thanks Sharon!
).
But, it also made me think a lot about where I am now, as opposed to where I was 12 months back.
Jan 2008, I was still studying in university (college), I had tons of work to do, a huge dissertation to write, exams to study for, and no time for the future.
Jan 2009, I’ve been graduated 6 months, will be 22 in June, and the recession hasn’t exactly been great for getting a proper full time job. (prayers please, something is looking promising).
So, I saw the recent ‘I’m pregnant’ thread where the lady said she was nearly 22, and for me it was like ‘whaaaat?’ - married at 21? - I’m 21!!!; and then I realised, that if I plan to get married, I need to have a full time, good paying job, somewhere of my own to live and care for a wife and family, a mature faith, maturity as a person etc…
Now, I realise 21 and a half is not the time to be having a mid-life crisis, but I can def. see how people can reach 30 and think ‘where did the time go?’. I’m done, I’ve seen the last 6 months, they went too fast, and I didn’t really get much completed. Never. Again.
But… I’m still feeling kind of shocked, because when you are studying you just put ‘life’ on hold, and I kind of continued that for the last 6 months, and then BAM, it was like God’s wake up call when I realized that I’d soon be 22.
Is this a natural progression around 21/22/23? Am I panicking over nothing?
I’m praying that I will get this job, and I can start to breath more easily, but I won’t know till Spring, so right now, I’m still a little afraid.
Anyone else finding the new year a little daunting?
God bless,
A,
