I’m going to start journaling more and social media-ing less.

I’m going to make and stick to a family plan for Friday pennance outside of Lent.

You’re a better person than me.

I want to delve more deeply into the corporal and spiritual works of mercy.
There’s twelve months in a year, but fourteen Works, so I’ll have to divvy up the calendar to fit them all in…

I have kept my single resolution from several years ago to not make New Year resolutions.

I’m with you. I don’t believe in New Year resolutions. I believe in life changes, and those can and should happen at any time. New Year resolutions almost always set you up for disappointment if you don’t keep them…

It’s not really a New Year’s resolution (because I’m only committing to the time from now until Ash Wednesday), but I’m… well… I’m giving up… no, that’s not it… I’m changing… nope… um… well, it’s too complicated to explain. But I’m doing it for the next nine or ten weeks.

Bet all y’all are glad I shared that, eh?

I heard this commercial on the radio about a New Year party where they said that the party will be for celebrating 2020 even if 2019 is coming so that everyone parties so hard they don’t know which year is coming.
So I am thinking this is my new year resolution - I will celebrate 2020! (not at that crazy club party the radio was talking about but in my small circle)
It’s a one night resolution, I guess I can respect that. 🤩

Gertabelle, you could have at least commited yourself more.

Is it nine or ten weeks of whatever it is you are doing? 😊

It’s until Ash Wednesday, when I’ll begin my Lenten penance. I’m too tired to count that high right now to figure out how many weeks that is.

I don’t like New Years resolutions, but in 2019 I am planning to take another crack at the St. Bridget 1-year prayer. I managed to keep caught up for a few months in 2018 but fell off the wagon around August sometime and since it is a very long prayer it’s not easily made up.

Found some good ideas here. I definitely want to gain control over my eating habits. I also want to become holy. Go to reconciliation more. I like the idea of concentrating on a few spiritual and corporeal works of mercy.

I’ve made it easy for my family for Friday penance. We don’t eat meat. Been doing this for years. Please share what you will do! Sometimes we eat meat on Friday and will say extra prayers instead but that never feels like it suffices.
