If I’m reading things correctly, it seems that in the US the obligation for the Solemnity of Mary is abrogated this year since it falls on a Saturday.

Does anyone know if this is the same in Canada?

Haven’t heard anything in our diocese.

Unlike in the US, in Canada there is no provision for abrogation of the obligation when Christmas and the Feast of Mary, Mother of God fall on Saturday or Monday. That shouldn’t come as a surprise since they are our only Holy Days of Obligation.

I’m not saying that individual bishops can’t decide that for their own diocese but it’s not part of the CCCB’s Decree on Holy Days the way it is in the USCCB’s Decree.
