Crazy bills are introduced every day. I reserve my concern for those bills that look like they might actually make it to the governor’s or president’s desk for a signature. I don’t have time to get wound up over every silly piece of legislation some nut in the legislature throws out there to get attention.

I actually think that decriminalization of prostitution is likely to happen, at least in some fashion in some states, within the next couple of decades. It is already legal in some parts of Nevada, so that will serve as a template for other states. There have been some prominent advocates pushing for this so it is really only a matter of time until it takes hold. I’m not saying that I agree with it but it is likely coming somewhere down the road, probably in some blue states. New York is a likely candidate, though this specific bill probably won’t make it through - this time.

Quite honestly I don’t think it should surprise anyone that a state that just legalized some of the most liberal abortion legislation in the nation would be considering legalizing prostitution as well. It seems to me the next step. What does surprise me is how many women seem ok with all of this. In past generations, abortion and prostitution were seen for what they truly were— attacks on women. They were seen as two of many ways that men control us and use us for their own advantage. Why can’t women see that anymore?

Question.
Do women realize how dangerous these places are? New York has or wants to legalize murder of babies, including female babies and wants to legalize the sex trade…
Women’s rights? Its about as far from being an advocate for women as you can get.

I’m against it, but I am for stiffer penalties for the johns instead of the prostitutes. A lot of municipalities have gone easier on the latter because it should be easy for someone being trafficked to speak up without fearing a punitive response.
