If I were to die before I go to confession on Saterday and I think I have mortal sin on my soul could I still be accepted into hevean or would I have to be late for school and go to morning confession or make an apponintment with a preist?

Forget about mortal sins. Theology does not think like that anymore. Notice what you sayd that you “have” a mortal sin. Mortal sins would not be something that you carry.

If you think that you have the so-called mortal sin, say: “My GOD, forgive me my sisters. I want to do the best to be worthy of Your Presence. I Love you” and be in peace. Next time o to confession.

Dont forget to do something for the poor, for this is what pleases God (Somalia in in hunger and the WFP, of the United Nations is accepting donations) and forgive your borthers.

It’s a simple question, but has a complex answer.

First, you might suspect you are not in a state of Grace, but only God knows for sure. It’s possible that it’s a non-issue.

Second, what type of contrition do you have? There are two types:
  • perfect contrition - Sorrow for sinning because it offends God.
  • imperfect contrition - Sorrow for sinning because of fear of consequences.
Perfect contrition obtains the forgiveness of sins - even mortal sins. You should still seek Sacramental Confession at your earliest (reasonable) opportunity, but if you die beforehand then you are OK.

Aside from that, the Church teaches that a person who dies outside a state of grace is consigned to hell.

However, never underestimate the mercy of God. God may take other things into consideration that are not contained in the Church’s Deposit of Faith. This same reasoning is also why the Church holds hope that unbaptized infants can be admitted into heaven, even though this is not part of the Deposit of Faith.

Ibo,

Could you please elaborate on this statement? I was not aware that theology did away with the Magisterium of the Church on the Teaching of Mortal Sin.

Thanks.

God bless.

God is perfect… God can’t sin… If God was to sin he would not be perfect he would not be God!

God is perfect… He has to JUDGE perfect. No one can enter heaven with a Mortal sin. No one can enter heaven with any sin.

All sin must be “Purged”!

1 John 5:16
If anyone sees his brother commit a sin that does not lead to death, he should pray and God will give him life. I refer to those whose sin does not lead to death. There is a sin that leads to death. I am not saying that he should pray about that.

All mortal sins “KILL”! All mortal sins lead to death! To say different is to say; “God is NOT the perfect judge”!
It is saying God is not perfect!

I think that the question is “if I have a mortal sin and die before I go to confession can I still get to heaven?” not “can I get into heaven even if I have a mortal sin?”

Other than that I agree with you that we cannot enter heaven with any sin on our soul and that it must be purged away. To ansewr the original question; if you die with a mortal sin on your soul and you are truelly sorry for your sins because you know that by sinning you have offended God, then you will be forgiven of your sin as long as you had the intention of making it to confession as soon as resonably possible.

Thanks everyone. So what I’m getting is I can wait until sateruday to go to coffesion.

Good for you, I will be praying that you have all the graces that you are in most need of to make a Good Sacramental Confession.

Be at peace.

Whenever we have a mortal sin on our souls its best to confess to a priest as soon as possible. One shouldn’t worry excessively though. We’re only human and we can’t take the fastest jet to the nearest confessional.
