I figured you guys would be able to explain this to me. I was just received this past December after completing RCIA last year: anulment delay. Anyways, I was watching EWTNs Traditional Latin Mass this morning after attending my regular diosean (sp) yesterday afternoon. I love the Catholic Church and enjoy the Mass. But I don’t think I would have embraced catholicism so readily if the Traditional Latin Mass was the status quo. Is this how the Mass was pre Vatican 2? I want to appreciate my new religious heritage so any help would be great.

I Earnestly recommend you read Sacred then Sacred Now:The Return of the Latin Mass by Thomas Woods Jr. I lend out my copy to anyone interested in the Extraordinary Form of the Mass (Known as the Tridentine Rite before Summorum Pontificum)

amazon.com/Sacred-Then-Now-Return-Latin/dp/0979354021

It explains in very brief and easy to understand language the importance of the EF, and the hows and why’s of the EF.

Also i recommend the website:fisheaters.com/

I hope you find a Joy and Beauty in the Extraordinary form and enjoy the Mass which has sustained and produced so many of our Saints.
