Are all College Ministries in the United States under the tutelage of a Roman Rite Diocese? I was wondering if there are any such ministries run/staffed/ or assisted with by Eastern Clergy. Thanks!

Awesome, thanks! I wish there was more info on their website.

Some of our folks also go to the Orthodox Christian Fellowship (OCF). I sometimes go to the OCF Divine Liturgy here, and when I have, and have stayed for the meal, I’ve always met both Latin Church and EC Catholics there. There are a number of Facebook communities also for EC and EC+Orthodox young adults, including the OCF groups. (I see an OCF at UC Davis) (I’m old enough to be the parent of the OCF young adults 🙂 ) In turn some of the Orthodox from the OCF have come to Saturday DL at my EC parish and I see the Catholic and Orthodox young adults from that group going to other events together. 👍

Yup. I recently went to the Akathist service for St. John of San Francisco and I saw some of my OCF friends there. Some of them were surprised to see me in attendance. LOL!

My local Byzantine parish has a campus ministry (of which I am the acting Vice President).

It rocks!

Of course we’re not the official one - we used to be through the Newman Center but we had some conflicts over pamphlets on contraception, homosexuality, and birth control so Archbishop allowed a compromise by having us through the Byzantine parish rather than the Newman Center.

But the regular ministry is through a Roman (Dominican) Newman Center.

Whereabouts is your ministry located? Do you have a website? What activities/events do you do? How big is your ministry?

I first learned about ECs from a Newman Center. A Byzantine priest used to visit there and give talks.

Probably 20 people attend a week or so. We have a Maronite Catholic theology teacher from our local public high school who comes in and gives talks, as do our deacon and one of our two priests (we are spoiled for such a small parish).

We do have a website!

olphnm.org/OLPH_Website/Student_Group.html

Not very big, of course. But it has some relevant info.

Haha, I don’t want to reveal which one I am.

Whoa… that… I used to go to that Newman Center. And I know one of those Norbertines! Glad you guys are there. The Newman Center was… ahem…

They’re Dominicans. They’re very dear men, yes, if that is what you are saying. 🙂

But usually I prefer a more traditional liturgy.

There is a group of Norbertines here - in fact, the event we have pictures of on that page, we had some of them there. I am one of the apologists on the panel (obviously not the girl, and not the Lebanese one).

I’m sure they are… I didn’t have a good experience with them in terms of their theology but it might of been those “specific” priests. Yeah I know one of those Norbertines and have met another. I’m still unsure of which one you are 😛
