I very carefully delineate Brighamites from decent LDS people. If you don’t like my terminology, perhaps you would like to read some quotes from BY himself. Learn to live with it. At least I don’t lump all LDS in the same evil basket, as some people do.
Jerusha, that makes no sense. You did not describe “Brighamites” as anything different from LDS–and indeed have used it to refer to the entire CoJCoLDS.

However, let’s go with your claim, and say that “Brighamites” are a special group of Mormons, defined by some set of parameters designed by you. It in fact makes your statement even more questionable, since it adds yet another layer of insult to a religious group—right after you pray that we all stop doing that sort of thing.

I see.

So it’s only when the people practicing the thing BELIEVE it is a sin that it is a sin?
No, what St. Paul meant (yes, dianaiad it is a bible quote - Romans 5:13) is that only after God defines what is sin and what is not is man responsible for those sins. Those who do not know what is right and wrong are not held responsible.

Back in the days of the patriarchs, God had not yet prohibited polygamy, so those who practiced it at that time were not guilty of adultery.

OK, and the scriptures say He prohibited polygamy…when, precisely?
