The church’s national appellate tribunal ruled last month that Anglican priests could give a blessing to same-sex couples

“It would be naive to think that mutually contradictory views on same-sex marriage can co-exist within our national church,” Anglican bishop Glenn Davies said. “To pursue this course will not bring healing but will only lead to a collapse in the fellowship that binds us together.”

Anglican Bishop Michael Stead said that “while some might applaud the judicial innovation of the appellate tribunal for finding a way to enable an already fractured church to remain together, they have in fact entrenched separation and division. This decision has destroyed the rationale for a national church.”

It’s a tragedy for the Christian witness in that country. If the Church follows the secular trends like a caboose then why bother listening to the Church at all?

Reminds me of the Methodist church in America that split over something similar. Sad.

Strange, isn’t it, how the Lord brings about eventual unity? We’re speaking long-term here. As occurred with the Anglicans in the US. Out of the disaster that Anglicanism is becoming, and in love of truth and unity, they now have an Anglican Ordinariate.

On a stranger note, the Mennonites split into two sects over the morality of using buttons on clothing.

Slippery slope warning

Once you start compromise with the World on Buttons Teaching, next step is …

I wouldn’t say it’s sad the Methodists, or Australian Anglicans,“split” on the sanctity of Marriage.

It’s sad that people abandon Christian teaching and practice, and often have the power to pull a denomination structure with them.

There’s almost an obsession with Unity at all costs. It’s sad that so few people who ought to know better linger on in those denominations.

Agree, it’s sad that it has come to this because of unchristian teachings. When we hope and pray for the unification of Christianity but witness more division.
