The Internet is full of people who lack common sense, so we will always have that sort of problem, unfortunately.I’m mostly concerned about people in the thread (including the OP) who are overestimating the amount of choice involved or how much control Anna had over the situation.
The documented facts of situations like the Rape of Nanking, the Dirlewanger Brigade raids, and the activities of both German and Russian troops in WWII speak for themselves.
I’m more concerned with people unfamiliar with Catholicism thinking that the Holy See is saying that if you don’t somehow get yourself killed rather than be raped, you’re immoral. The Holy See is saying no such thing.
