Newsflash: Vatican speaks on Islam

1. The Church regards with esteem also the Moslems. They adore the one God, living and subsisting in Himself, merciful and all-powerful, the Creator of heaven and earth (5), who has spoken to men; they take pains to submit wholeheartedly to even His inscrutable decrees, just as Abraham, with whom the faith of Islam takes great pleasure in linking itself, submitted to God. Though they do not acknowledge Jesus as God, they revere Him as a prophet. They also honor Mary, His virgin mother; at times they even call on her with devotion. In addition, they await the day of judgement when God will render their deserts to all those who have been raised up from the dead. Finally, they value the moral life and worship God especially through prayer, almsgiving and fasting.

It’s actually a good reminder.

I am sometimes frustrated with some people’s attitudes toward Islam. I will go on record saying there are many, many, many noble Muslims around the world.

More to the point, if Muslims were living 3,200 years ago, they would be considered heroes-- because their modern day actions are not much different than the brutal actions of the Israelites as depicted within the Book of Joshua.

My sympathy nonethless goes out to Islam-- because, quite frankly, they are insidiously trapped, with very little hope of seeing the Gospel, within a time that the world has left far behind since the coming of Christ.

Now, instead of the grace of Christ, they are left caged within their own Eblis destroying their nations around them with a misguided political agenda which will only serve God in much the same way that the adversary served God when crucifying Christ.

Indeed, none of their caliphs understand it, for if they did, they would not be murdering the Lord of glory appearing to them through his holy church.

The above does accurately state what MOSLEMS believe THEY believe… They actually believe that they worships the SAME god as Christians and Jews except that the christians have ‘made partners’ to him.

THE FACT however is that Moslems DO NOT worship the same God. We worship the the Holy Trinity they worship a god who declares in the koran that he has no son and does not give birth and that Eesa (Jesus) is NOT his son and those who believe that Jesus is the son of allah are Kafara and Mushrekeen…

No we DO NOT have the same God… THEIR god may be one but he certainly is NOT The One and ONLY TRUE GOD - the Holy and Undevided Trinity.

As to the naive and rosy picture VII is describing, the reality is quite different… just watch the news or read history… There can be no peace between Christ and Beliel.

See, this is why I don’t call myself an Atheist.

The sentiments behind this aspect of Catholic philosophy are beautiful. They promote reconciliation, peace and tolerance. This is really an expression of the very highest ideal of human philosophy and rational discourse.

There are Muslim, Jewish and Mormon equivalents, of course; but this is exactly the sentiment that Catholics should rightly be proud of and seek to promote, both among themselves and in the world at large. Every human being, regardless of his or her tradition, would benefit by understanding the underlying principles that brought this statement into existence, and promoting those same principles in their own traditions.

Perhaps people need to be reminded of the Battle of Lepanto.

Battle of Lepanto

On October 7, 1571, a great victory over the mighty Turkish fleet was won by Catholic naval forces primarily from Spain, Venice, and Genoa under the command of Don Juan of Austria. It was the last battle at sea between “oared” ships, which featured the most powerful navy in the world, a Moslem force with between 12,000 to 15,000 Christian slaves as rowers. The patchwork team of Catholic ships was powered by the Holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Knowing that the Christian forces were at a distinct material disadvantage, the holy pontiff, St. Pope Pius V called for all of Europe to pray the Rosary for victory. We know today that the victory was decisive, prevented the Islamic invasion of Europe, and evidenced the Hand of God working through Our Lady. At the hour of victory, St. Pope Pius V, who was hundreds of miles away at the Vatican, is said to have gotten up from a meeting, went over to a window, and exclaimed with supernatural radiance: “The Christian fleet is victorious!” and shed tears of thanksgiving to God.

I’m glad that that Vatican can think highly for peaceful Moslems.

I wonder what the Vatican thoughts are regarding Muhammad and the Qur’an.
