Newspaper prayers: Catholic? or not?

I’ve seen alot of prayers throught the years in the classified type sales papers,alot of them to ST.Jude and Mary. They usually end with “this prayer has never been known to fail” (or something similar. Pray this every day for three days and when your prayer is answered you to should publish the prayer. Is there anything wrong with these prayers? Are they “catholic” prayers?
 
I’ve wondered that myself. They feel a little fishy to me, like those St. Jude chain letters.

What do you mean by :

are they “catholic” prayers?
 
i tried those when i was young and the first time it worked. the succeeding times it didn’t. or perhaps i did get my wish granted, only in some other form

i’ve always believed its that your faith that gets you God’s Blessings. the prayers are just instruments to set our faith in the right place. if you don’t believe in these prayers (or any prayer) then God will not hear them. but if you truly believe in these prayers and have 100% faith that God will grant your prayers, then God will grant them.

Luke 18:40-48 - a woman believed that merely by touching Jesus’ cloak that she will be healed and indeed Jesus confirmed that her faith healed her. the touching of the cloak is merely an expression of her faith and it has set her mind and her heart at the right place, which is to believe 100% in Jesus

and to answer the question, not sure if they are Catholic, i guess meaning they came from the Vatican or approved by the Vatican, but like i said, as long as it does not go against any teaching and sets your mind and your heart in the right place then those prayers will help you.

They don’t seem like bad prayers or any thing. I just wondered if it’s the “proper” catholic thing to do,as it says. Like: pray this 3times and if it’s answered publish it. Should we think in this way? Should we publish it? Would the church view it as right or wrong catholicism?

publishing is a good thing, its a way that you can attest as a witness that God is indeed here to help us. a lot of people don’t believe God will help them because they don’t feel His presence. but if someone prays and gets their petition granted and then publishes it, it tells other people that, “hey, God is here listening and i can prove it”.

They are de facto superstitions, so not really Catholic.
