Newt Gingrich Converts

[RevDrNorth]

Maybe old news but I was surprised today while searching the web to discover the Dr. Gingrich (former Speaker of the House, author, professor, etc) has converted to Catholicism. Apparently, his wife is a very devout Catholic attending daily Mass.

Other relatively recent conversions include of course Tony Blair and one that stunned the evangelical community…Francis Beckwith en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Francis_J._Beckwith

What on earth could be next…Anglican clergy, nuns Bishops? Oooops

Seriously, God bless all of those who through sincere searching have found a spiritual home in Rome. I wonder if Dr. G will be on the Journey Home soon.

Yeah, Gingrich and Beckwith were both a pretty big deal when they came into the church. Beckwith was president of an evangelical society at the time!

Are there Protestant equivalents to these sort of high profile conversions? As in, any prominent Catholics in academia or politics who leave for Protestantism? It doesn’t seem like we hear about that as often…
