Next year I'm going to get Confirmed. Is it ok if I veil for the occasion?

Where I live we have a dress code for Confirmation: the dress of our choice mustn’t be sparkling, but simple, and neon colors are forbidden. We can wear heels, but the max height of them must be of five centimeters and makeup must be really light (so just mascara and a little of lipgloss) because as our priest says “You aren’t at a fashion show. You are in a church”

Well, I know two ladies that veil. I want to veil too because they look happy with a veil in during mass. But my mum thinks that veiling is something “old and just to look for attention” so I don’t know what to do…
in situations like this, I would go with the majority. Are most girls not wearing a veil? There’s your answer.

Look at it this way . There is nothing wrong with not wearing one, but wearing one is spoiling the atmosphere and possibly the occasion. And also possibly causing others to sin by making them think you are showing-off.

What is more important? Your own wishes or the happiness of the occasion, especially your mother’s?

That’s your mother’s opinion, not Church doctrine. There are many within the Church today who seem to resent certain traditions, such as veiling and Latin being spoken at Mass. Pay them no mind.

Veiling is perfectly fine; it is not a sin, and I don’t see how it could lead others into sin (with men, it has the opposite effect). Wear one if you wish!
