Ok Clementine14. So marquette use the clear blue fertility monitor design for helping couples to conceive?

(very strange!)

I was speaking of the persona Clearblue monitor, that unfortunately the manufacturer had stopped the commercialisation since July2016.

Persona Contraception Monitor | Clearblue

In this notice, it is specify to not use during breastfeeding, and for cycles more than… or short than…

It is true that during breastfeeding, that period do not return immediately and the first cycles are often very very long. So cannot be used during this period.

But after?
Yes, the Clearblue monitor is used in the Marquette method. The monitor is manufactured (at least in the US) to help couples conceive, not for NFP. The Marquette method is sort of an “off label” use for the monitor. There is a specific protocol for women who are postpartum as well as women who are breastfeeding. (Just a note- some of us have cycles that return within the first few months postpartum, despite exclusive breastfeeding.)

The Persona monitor you linked to looks quite similar to the US Clearblue- this is so interesting, I didn’t know it existed! It seems that its manufacturer has issued instructions that it should not be used during breastfeeding, so this would be a different method than Marquette. But Marquette does indeed have specific instructions for breastfeeding women, and can be used at that time.

We should be careful with our terms. Planning one’s family has two sides: when to avoid and when to try to conceive.

The monitor is designed by the manufacturer to help couples determine fertility when they try to conceive. The manufacturer states the monitor should not be used to attempt to avoid pregnancy. The Marquette Method uses the same device for both sides of Natural Family Planning.

Well then, by definition, the monitor is not manufactured for NFP, since that encompasses both trying to achieve and avoid. It is manufactured for pregnancy achievement, not for both purposes.

Maybe it’s simply a difference in the legal circumstances of the countries where they are sold? Germany for example tend to have tons of “so not use for xyz” paragraphs to limit guarantee.

Clearblue had conceived differents monitors : at least one for conceive and one to not conceive.

The one for not conceive (persona) in no longer sold by the manufacturer.

I don’t know if both products sahred the same name and was available in evry contries…

Please tell me about a where a sexless marriage (excluding an intentionally Josephite marriage) was a happy one. My husband and I are both in our 20s. This sounds like a problem for post-menopausal couples. If I told any of my friends that NFP has this effect, they’d make up their minds that NFP and Catholicism was certainly not for them.
This is an issue for any couple who is not in a good place to conceive. (Post-menopausal couples have sex too, so I’m not sure what that means.) Many, many couples are in a situation where they cannot be intimate either for a time (weeks, months, or years), or indefinitely. No, it is not easy, but it’s not necessarily fair to imply that anyone who is abstaining (for whatever reason- financial, medical, whatever) either by using NFP or complete abstinence, cannot possibly have a happy marriage.

We faced some serious health concerns early in our marriage. This was before we were Catholic and when we began using NFP (Creighton ish before we were aware of Creighton). There were a couple of years when we were completely continent. In truth, it drew us much closer.

That’s a really beautiful thing to share, and an encouraging thing to hear, thank you. <3
