Yes, it is far better to place children with loving families who are right this moment begging God for a child.

LaSainte I remember you from a month or so ago. you had mentioned leaving the church and one of the reasons was your dislike for NFP. I know how hard it can be to understand the church’s teachings on this matter. I have been very frustrated with NFP at times during my marriage. I took a long time for me to accept NFP. I got to a point that I had to quit dwelling on it and stop caring what other people think of me. our society is so judgmental. society conflicks with catholicism. it takes a leap of faith to be Catholic. and it can take huge amount of trust in God to be able to trust NFP. if I remember right you were about to have a baby; pregnancy and postpartum are my moodest times. maybe it would help for you to take a break from the subject for awhile. the Church teachings are a guideline to help you to heaven just like we give rules to our children like no hiting God gives us rules that help us. a mortal sin has to have three things. if you don’t agree you need to seek God’s guidance what I’m say is is that only you and God know whats a mortal sin for you. the CAF discussion on BC ABC and NFP are just explaining the rules or guidelines no one is condemning you they can’t only God can and only God knows your relationship with him. I know that people on CAF and its discussions can come of as righteous but you know what society views righteous as bad but in the bible you are bless if you are righteous and the righteous will get to heaven. there is a difference between righteousness and being judgmental but it can be a fine line. some righteous people are judgmental but some aren’t and I would say here on CAF most aren’t trying to be judgmental.

I’m sorry if some of you got the impression that I was referring to all people who give their children up as “dropping them off like puppies”. For most, giving a child up is a brave and heartbreaking choice. But I was more questioning the morality of just being “done” having kids and then deciding to give any subsequent ones up for adoption. Some women simply don’t want 6 or 9 kids, and if they follow Church teaching on the immorality of contraception, then would it be immoral for them to give some of their kids up for adoption? The Church says that you should only practice NFP for “serious” reasons, but personally, I think that not wanting any more kids is pretty darn serious. It could affect how the child is treated, raised and loved for their entire life. That sounds pretty darn serious to me. So would that couple be able to morally give any “extra” children up for adoption, or would it be better to either A.)contracept or B.)treat the unwanted child accordingly?
most people with this attitude “don’t want any more” switch to choice A. most of the rest that stick with NFP and want to be done and get another grow in love with that child just like the rest I have never heard of anyone taking it out on the kid. sounds like your struggling with this decision yourself. I struggled with it but I learned to accept nfp but it took a long time and a lot of prayers

Rita, thank you, thank you, thank you. That’s all I can say.

if or when you are ready to accept NFP for what it is (not as easy or effective as ABC) there is a lot of help on CAF. the pregnant or not post is constantly talking about it. most of my post are about NFP and postpartum because thats been the last five years of my life. if you want help with crazy postpartum cycles and NFP just ask and if you need a break from talking about it then take one. I know I need a break every now and than.

the booklet **“Brith control and Christian Discipleship” by John Kippley **its 40 pages and $3 and it is what helped me accept NFP and it also the booklet that converted the famous protestant evangelist Scott Hahn. you can also read most of John Kippley’s writings about NFP and the Church on his sit nfpandmore.org. for me I have read the bible and go to Church on Sunday and what I read and hear I agree with the Catholic Church teachings (rules).
