hi yes, my DH & I have been using NFP to avoid for 11 1/2 yrs. due to my Crohn’s disease, chronic pain, and a blood clotting disorder where my body throws clots for no reason. I also had a stroke 4 yrs. ago and it affected my ability to understand following written as well as verbal directions. In order for me to process any type of new information, someone has to sit with me and talk me through it, then I have to repeat a few times in order for it to click.
I am also in peri menopause as well, thus, my ovulation isn’t normal anymore to say the least. I have an awesome NFP practitioner that I’ve been able to contact whenever I would have questions or concerns.
My most recent call to her was back in September 2008 after I had surgery w/severe post op complications that weren’t suppose to happen. She had me review past charting procedures and then she went over everything step by step until I completely understood what I was doing.
DH is in total agreement with NFP as it won’t interfere w/my medications & we are able to tell when my crohn’s is flaring (pp day 4- day after last day of menstrual bleeding) so I can prepare for when I have to take pain medication to get it under control. He also doesn’t want me to go through another stroke & suffer. I was told by the team of neurologists that they have seen many women develop clots due to being on birth control pills & that was the first thing they asked me. I was happy to respond NO b/c I knew of the dangers of hormonal contraception by my GI.
As long as you and your DH have patience, a great sense of humor, and are able to communicate (praying helps

), you will do fine. best of luck to you. God Bless!!
