NFP is making me mad

Thank you for this, I had this in my mind, too. I had an utrasound last month at day 25 and the gyn told me the status looks “average for this day” as he sees something that very well could be a corpus luteum. I didn´t ask further as I was relatively secure he would have had this possibility in his mind. I think he wants me to still track also because of this…

This article quote a short luteal phase as one that is less than 10 days.

The O.P have a 28/29 days cycle. If the ovulation take place the day 18, it is not necessary a short luteal phase.
This cycle where this occured is sill not over- atm it´s day 33 for me, so this amy be a general problem, or just a very long ou-tof-order cycle right now…

Regarding the novenas and pilgrimages… it’s what, as I feel, would let me feel alot more comfortable. Sadly there’s no tradition of praying novenas in the eastern orthodox church, but I think it’s maybe good for any christian. So, if you have a novena for this, I would kindly try it. I looked already for pilgrimages here in germany ( czech republic or poland maybe would be also OK as I am located in the east) but I only found st Annas relics in Vienna and another church really far away and unfortunately not for display all the year.

Yes, I have seen a doctor and I´m in medical therapy since last year. The fertility issues are diagnosed by my gyn doc, and from this came the advice to track my cycle symptothermal to see if there´s a chance to get pregnant without medical help - what I would of course highly favour, as I had huge side effects of hormonal therapy in the past and won´t like to deal with this again.
The problem is, the whole online thing aside, this tracking thing makes me mad, and my doctor sees it as necessary for at least three months. If I would stop it now, I would constantly ask myself if something is out of order/irregular etc, and I see I´m really bad at dealing with disappointment. I know there are so many couples who try it longer without success, and I think hard how I can learn patience and accept what will come. Atm it´s hard to pray “thy will be done”…
I think that if your doctor asked you to track for three months, it’s good to keep it up. However, I have never been able to get clear discernible temperature readings; I breathe through my mouth, and I don’t sleep well. And some people don’t have great cervical fluid patterns to predict ovulation.

I seem to recall another discussion where you mentioned you are not in the US- is there something similar to the Clearblue fertility monitor you could use? Or even just cheap ovulation strips? It will give you a more comprehensive picture that you can look back on- many women realize that they actually ovulate either earlier or later than they thought, and can begin timing everything more appropriately with that knowledge.

A Novena is simply repeating a prayer 9 times (over 9 hours, 9 days, 9 weeks, 9 months, etc.) Perhaps find a psalm that speaks the words you have in your heart and pray that every day for 9 days?

IIRC Akathists and Supplicatory Canons would be prayed by an EO Christian?

Or simply praying “the Lord opens and closes the womb, His mercy endures forever” as an ejaculation (little prayer that you say many times during the day).

We have this repeating prayers, too, not organised in novenas, but we have the Jesus prayer or the trisagion I repeat at work often and some saints do have a kontakion or troparion, special verses in the liturgical chant. They are not always that detailed in adressing the aspects a Saint is associated with, so I didn’t found for example a verse for Saint Anna (originally I thought of her)… I pray daily a free prayer after my our father and the hail mary, but something more theme focused would be very good I think.

Yes, and it´s a truly powerful prayer. I use to say it without a break in my head when I´m really angry, desperate or sad, and it never failed.

Thank you so much! I’ll write it down and include it, it’s beautiful!
I yesterday found out there is a church with relics of st Anna in Düren/ germany and sent them an e-mail about possibilities to visit the relics. They display parts of her head in june and I’m thinking of travelling to it.

This month is full of surprises, thank the Lord mainly positive. I had a 6 hours drive to see my old gyn and chech if there´s any change, and, what I didn´t expected, it changed to the good. Not a perfect condition, but at the bad end of the “average” scale 😉
He told me I may give up tracking if I like, and I really calmed down in the last days, thank you all, too for this - sometimes it´s good to speak something out and go on.

Lady comp takes the guesswork out of nfp. Game changer. Look it up. Talk to their customer service. It’s amazing . I love it. I don’t stress on fertile/inferile anymore. My little lady comp tells me. I have used it 2.5 years , my sister and a few friends.

IIRC, our OP lives in Europe and some devices that are common in the US/Canada are not available.

I checked out ladycomp, but it seems that the data is mostly the same as I´m able to track with my symptothermal app on my phone - with two negative points: it´s very pricey and the temperature is measured on the tongue, which is more inaccurate (because of nightly sleeping with open mouth) than vaginal measuring.

I’ve heard rumours of a device coming to market that measures temp vaginally and sends it via Bluetooth to your device. The tech is improving!

The Lady Comp, is a German brand, so available where @alice24 lives, in Germany.

One of the main problem I see with the lady Comp is that it analysed only the BBT, but don’t limit the infertile days to only the luteal period after a few mounths of records.

So it is in reality a calculo-thermic method, that is not only based on observations as others NFP methods, but also with probablities statistics, like in the rythm method.
Not the best is the cycles are not regular.
I don’t know how they have the high pearl index they announce. Perhaps with few infertile considered-days when the cycles are found very irregular?
@Sunflowers know better!

Netherless, some women seems very satisfied with with device, that takes in charge all interpretations.

Note: on medical perspective, the best way to have the more accurate result of BBT is rectal measure. Tongue way can be uses, but with highter levels results and less effective.

I don’t understand why people are so skeptical. The device works great. I have young children and even get up multiple times a night. I sleep w my mouth open sometimes. I found traditional nfp very overwhelming. If you have questions on how specifically it works I would call their customer service. Good luck.

Good for you!

Not every device/method is going to fit every woman.
