NFP postpartum & breastfeeding

Hi, I am new to this forum. My husband and I have a 6 month old baby boy. We conceived “on accident” though we couldn’t be happier with God’s gift. We thought we were following the rules correctly… so now that we had our baby we are hesitant about the rules and would like to be careful and space our children out.
We are not trying to figure out how to chart while breastfeeding, as I still have no period. I have been doing research online because for some reason my instructor is not responding (and I have emailed multiple times, it’s been months since I’ve heard from them). Based on what I have researched, I have found that any mucous is a sign of fertility? So if this is correct, is it safe to have evening intercourse if I have 4 dry days? Can we follow the every other night rule as long as there is no mucous until I have a period?

Which method are you using?

I’m a sympto-thermal NFP user, and from my understanding (and 4 postpartum NFP experiences) what you are saying is exactly correct.

If you are a sympto-thermal user, I highly recommend becoming more familiar with your cervical position sign. Often this is one of the more difficult signs to understand, but with practice it can become easier. From my own personal experience, the cervical position sign gave me the MOST useful information to help correlate those confusing signs during the postpartum months.

I am using the Creighton method, based on sensation of mucous. We can’t wait to have more babies, as we are so in low with our little boy - but we definitely need to wait because of our finances so i want to make sure we get it right! 🙂
 
Gotcha! Hopefully someone with Creighton experience can chime in too!

I know what it’s like to space the babies out… NFP is so wonderful for that!

Greetings, Most Decons that are married use the NFP and may be able to help you and the only suggestion I can give that may be of assistance is contact your Diocese and see who is experienced in teaching NFP and get with a new instructor that will answer your questions. Your Diocese should have that information though. God Bless!
