Well, reading up on some of the comments at the site -seems those who are finding a few negative things in the article do have valid points .
One was the concern about too much emphasis on the negatives , even if meant in a humorous way - such asNFP as ’ first class suffering ’ and attitude towards confession .
The strong good point was suggesting ways to use the frustration to improve relationships - in the most critical areas and to enhance ones own level of understanding of spiritual truths !
’ I make up for what is lacking in the suffferings of Christ ’ can be much better understood in this context - how turning to God more wholeheartedly during those fertile times when physical intimacy has to be restrained can become a time of spiritual newlife , of being more dependant on God’s love for us - esp. focusing on His Passion .
Since touch is a means of comfort for us , many find the Divine Mercy Image as a touchable means to bring our all to Him …and on behalf of all ( as we know , in today’s culture , there are many who need to be brought to Him ! ) and to plead from Him to send His Spirit , Blood and Life into us !
Other well known’ touchable ’ sacramentals are - ofcourse the Rosary , the scapulars - esp. the green scapular since it does not have to be worn yet comes with with the promise of grace of converion ( thus the partner who needs more prayers can be helped too ) … for conversion of self control under the control of The Holy Spirit … and one can hold onto the wool that represents The Lamb … touching The Lamb, do we not get to touch all that are in Him too !
And filled with The Father’s Love , may be we as His children would be able to tone down the urges of the ( fallen) body that calls out -’ give me children or…"
Thus , like all Christian sufferings , this too can be an occasion of victory over lower urges , in the Power of God’s Love and a source of joy and gratitude !
Peace !
