hey all.

Now that my fiance and I are actively planning the wedding, I’m looking into NFP methods to use.

I’m not sure which system would be the best for me, as my cycles are irregular (between 28 and 45 days, usually).

Thanks for any advice you have.

I use STM and I love it. I like having three signs to cross-check. My cycle usually goes between 25 and 32 days, so not too much irregularity, but I’ve caught the early ovulation every time that it’s happened. My temps have not been negatively affected by changes in my sleep cycle; as long as I get more than 5 hours of sleep my pattern still looks fine regardless of what time I went to bed or woke up. Some women do have trouble with differing sleep patterns affecting temps, though.

Try out whatever method you choose before the wedding. If you are having trouble identifying your fertile and non fertile times, then don’t feel bad about trying out a new method. Different methods work better for different people.

If there is any possibility of health issues, use Creighton, as this is connected to Napro technology. The charts can be reviewed by napro docs who can help treat issues.

Irregular cycles such as you list might not mean anything is wrong.

what class is offered in your area? I suggest researching all (do your homework) and pick one that fits you. I prefer couple to coule stm. but her is the list of the ones I know about. all have online classes and or face to face teachers.

ccli.org/ couple to couple uses temps, mucus, and cervix position

nfp.marquette.edu/ ovulation monitor with other signs too can be $$$

nfpandmore.org/ couple to couple uses temps, mucus, and cervix position and eco breastfeeding

creightonmodel.com/ mucus only and specializes in infertility and other issues

I recommend sympto thermal method, as it gives you that added confidence of having 3 signs to cross check, temperature, mucous, and cervical position. Especially for a beginner, it’s great to have experience checking all of your signs. As you gain confidence, and depending how necessary it is to avoid pregnancy, you don’t have to use all the signs.

I just learned NFP but I don’t use my temperature sign. It should be taken at the same time every time you wake up, but I wake up at different times because of my job. I rely on mucous and cervical position.

Good luck!
