Why would it be wrong to tell him about NFP? It is encouraged/supported by the Catholic Church within marriage. What is causing him to get upset over it? Is it because he does not understand it? Is he viewing this as something that will impede on your ‘sex life’ within your marriage?
Why would it be wrong for a Catholic to use NFP? Again it is encouraged and supported by the Church.
To ensure peace, I think that you both need to spend time learning about NFP together. There are many great ways to do this. The couple to couple league. Check out your local parish. Heck, in marriage prep they should be talking to you about this as well. Take the time to learn about NFP and have your fiance be involved in that as well. Time to get him some material to read, possibly even “The Good News About Sex and Marriage” by Christopher West.

It depends on what was said and what was meant. The church is teaching that we can use NFP for serious reasons. It is good to find out how you communicate and work on that before marriage.
I could see him getting upset if he viewed NFP as contraception, but the Church has taught, and shown why, NFP is not contraception. If this is the case (him seeing it this way) then I would encourage him to research the subject. Humanae vitae, Theology of the Body, and the Catechism of the Catholic Church are excellent resources and you can find online sources at vatican.va/phome_en.htm .
