Nice Calm Internet Priests

As I said in the other thread, for somebody who’s not into US politics, you’re making a lot of posts on that topic.
Let’s not derail the thread here with the same discussion that’s happening on 10 other threads, okay?

That’s why I follow him
Okay, but that is not the point of this thread or what the OP is asking.

I think if one has a parish priest that posts on line, that should be a primary one that one listens to. Since the COVID, my Mass is now on line. Do a search for your bishop.

I like Cardinal diNardo and Cardinal Dolan.

I see my parish priests at live Mass (we’ve had public Masses here since early June). My priests are good guys and okay speakers. But I don’t really need to see more of them online when I’m seeing them a couple times a week in person.

As for the bishop, he too is a nice guy (I’ve now seen him bishopping in two dioceses) but he’s not Archbishop Sheen. And that’s okay, because Archbishop Sheen wasn’t really cut out to run a diocese any more than Archbishop Perez was cut out to be an electrifying public speaker. I do think some of the clergy who speak online or speak a lot in public (such as Cardinal Dolan) have or develop a particular skill set for online or video ministry that makes them good to watch in that capacity.

Another apolitical priest I can recommend (though I wouldn’t call him calm since he is often bubbling with enthusiasm) is Fr. Leo Patalinghug where his talks usually center around discipleship in regards to food and sharing of meals with one another.

He has written at least four books. One is a recipe book. He spoke at a parish in my diocese several years ago. People liked him.

I can highly recommend the Sycamore programme that Father Stephen Wang has been involved in making. Beginners seeking to understand the Catholic faith, those preparing for the Sacrament of Confirmation can combine it with the Youcat book and interested adults who want to deepen their faith with studying together.

English is spoken a little slower and is fairly basic and he explains difficult words used.

Some parts or all have been translated into other European languages.

There is no charge to use which is a great bonus to us all. Thank you to all sponsors.

I haven’t listened to his show Light of the East in too long a time. I imagine his young assistant who called herself the “byzan-teen” is all grown up now 🙂

That is a breath of fresh air. I should watch it every day between now and November, it will probably keep me from committing more sins of impatience.

The first time I watched it, I raised an eyebrow but now I love it. I also love the other many music videos he has done.

I watch TheSundayMass.org which is a Passionist production from Queens, N.Y. This Christmas will be their 50th year of bringing
Catholic Mass broadcasts to the public. It started out as a service for the elderly and homebound in the NYC and to the surrounding tri-state area which was accessible on TV stations. The current Executive Producer a Passionist priest who also is a frequent presider of the Sunday Mass is Fr. Paul Fagan. He was the presider this past Sunday and I thought that his homily on the Gospel was excellent. He honed in on the phrase ‘Are you jealous because I am generous’ in the parable to stress that we do not see things as God see things that was mentioned in the first reading. He is a gentle spoken priest who at times speaks with a slight stutter or halting rhythm. I enjoy the other presiders too but Fr. Paul is by far my favorite one. The Mass is only a half hour long due to the enormous cost of the production and broadcasting.
