When a priest changes these “little” things I wonder if I can trust him with the big ones. If he is obedient, I trust him more. Also, I have a kneejerk reaction “does he think I’m too stupid to know ‘man’ means ‘mankind’?”:confused:

We can’t change the words of the liturgy - but does that refer to the Latin or the English?
The prohibition applies to the approved text. Sacrosactum Concillum requires that the vernacular texts be approved by Rome. “became human” was never approved by Rome
. I’ve also heard of a Latin scholar priest who changed the liturgy to be more consistent with the Latin. Would he draw similar scorn?
Yes, this priest must wait for the new, closer to Latin texts to be approved first. And then only use those texts.
