In the Nicene Creed, when it says that Jesus descended into Hell and rose from the dead on the third day, according to the Scriptures, which Scripture is being referenced?

I had the same question. It was answered in this thread fairly well. The other day though, I wondered if maybe St. Paul was referring to the Gospel of Luke chapter 24 vs 44-48.

I think you may be combining parts of the Nicene Creed with the Apostles’ Creed. The Nicene Creed says:
“…For our sake, He was crucified under Pontius Pilate, He suffered, died, and was buried. On the third day He arose again in fulfilment of the Scriptures…”
The Apostles’ Creed says:
“…born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into Hell, on the third day he arose again from the dead…”

The hell that the Apostle’s Creed is refering to is the Limbus Patrum, or Limbo of the Fathers, which is Church Dogma, unlike Limbo Infantium, which is the children’s Limbo.
